Anirban Lahiri has taken Indian Golf, one of the country’s most coveted sport, a notch higher. And now it’s a proud moment for India as International team captain Nick Price has named Anirban Lahiri to his 12-player team for the Presidents Cup at Liberty National.

Anirban Lahiri is captain's pick for Presidents Cup

Lahiri has won 18 times worldwide and also represented India last summer at the Rio Olympics

Price has also picked Argentina's Emiliano Grillo, while the USA has named veterans Phil Mickelson and Charley Hoffman.

Lahiri, 30, is back for his second Presidents Cup appearance after finishing with a 0-3-0 record in his debut in 2015. He has won 18 times worldwide and also represented India last summer at the Rio Olympics.

Lahiri began his 2016-17 campaign with a T3 at the CIMB Classic and later added his best career finish on the PGA TOUR at the Memorial Tournament presented by Nationwide, where a 7-under 65 in the final round led to a T2 result. In his second appearance in the FedExCup Playoffs, Lahiri has advanced to the BMW Championship as the last man in at No. 70 in the standings.

With these picks, the International Team has 22 previous Presidents Cup appearances amongst its members with four players making their Presidents Cup debuts. Those numbers are 20 and six for the U.S. Team, with the six rookies matching 1996 and 2011 for the most in team history. Mickelson will continue his reign as the only player to compete in all 12 Presidents Cups, dating back to the inaugural event in 1994.

The International Team consists of the top-10 international players (non-U.S. and non-European) from the Official World Golf Ranking as of September 4, 2017, plus two captain’s selections. The U.S. Presidents Cup Team is comprised of the top-10 U.S. players who earned the most FedExCup points from September 15, 2015, through September 4, 2017, with points earned starting with the 2016 BMW Championship doubled, plus two captain’s selections.
