Ace golfers Shiv Kapur and Anirban Lahiri’s entry into the forthcoming British Open is significant as it heralds a new era in the golfing arena. Now the two are carrying the burden of expectations on their shoulders to win the coveted title.
Ahead of The 146th Open at Royal Birkdale, the 35-year-old golfer shares exclusively with 4moles.com the top three mistakes golfers need to evade while playing on the course.
1) Don’t try and hit too hard
“The one thing most of the golfers do is that they all try to ball too hard. The longer the club, they feel like swinging it faster. That’s the number one mistake they need to avoid. Also, I think you need to maintain a good rhythm.”
2) Work on your alignment
“The second focal point is the alignment. Most of them don’t concentrate enough on their alignment. They get on the driving range and just hit balls without taking a very particular aiming spot. And they get on the golf course and make the same mistake. It’s imperative to work on your alignment within the driving range.”
3) Don’t add loft
“And the third thing most of them try to do is scoop the ball up in the air. They don’t understand that the club is designed with a certain amount of loft and that extra loft can hamper your game. I see so many people backing out of their innings in their attempt to add loft.”
