MAITRI is an NGO, registered under the societies registration act of 1983, with FCRA approval and tax exemption under 80 G (5) of the Indian Income Tax Act, 1961. It has its headquarters in Shillong, Meghalaya, and regional offices in Delhi, Haryana, Punjab and Uttar Pradesh. It is committed to reducing HIV/AIDS and helping ensure that those affected, infected and afflicted live with dignity. MAITRI activities are devoted to promoting advocacy and awareness while mitigating the impact of stigma and discrimination, focusing particularly on women, children, and Uniformed Personnel and their families.

The Omaxe-MAITRI Golf Tournament is an integral part of the MAITRI annual calendar due to its power to generate funds that create a platform of essential awareness about HIV/AIDS, as MAITRI believes prevention through awareness is the best attack against the virus. It is a fundraising golf tournament is scheduled at the Qutab Golf Courseon the 22^nd of November 2008.
