If there’s one thing that can be said about India’s ace Golfer Anirban Lahiri is that consistency has been eluding him for a long time. After wrestling with his form for a long time, Lahiri displayed a lot of grit to play valiantly and earn a T6 finish at the World Golf Championships.

American Justin Thomas prepared for his defence of the US PGA Championship title with a four-shot victory at the WGC-Bridgestone Invitational in Ohio.

Justin Thomas wins WGC

Thomas was a five-time winner during the 2017 season

Thomas led Rory McIlroy and Ian Poulter by three shots overnight, and the Northern Irishman and Englishman tailed off in the final round.  McIlroy ended in tied sixth place after a three-over-par 73, while Poulter was tied 10th after a four-over 74. Thomas finished on 15 under after a one-under 69 on the final day.

"It feels awesome," he said. "I did not hit the ball as well today but we had so much control and I had a very clean card at the end. It is the first time I have cried after winning a tournament. It was pretty cool to have my grandma and grandad watching me."

Fellow American Kyle Stanley finished second on 11 under, with Denmark's Thorbjorn Olesen and American Dustin Johnson a further shot behind in tied third.

Anirban Lahiri hit 12 of 18 greens in regulation during his final round at the World Golf Championships-Bridgestone Invitational, finishing at 8 under for the tournament. Lahiri finished his day tied for 6th at 8 under.

Lahiri

Lahiri is in a great form

On the 526-yard par-5 second hole, Lahiri reached the green in 3 and sunk a sub 1-foot putt for birdie. This moved Lahiri to 1 under for the round.  After a 272 yard drive on the 469-yard par-4 sixth, Lahiri chipped his third shot to 6 feet, which he rolled for two-putt bogey on the hole. This moved Lahiri to even for the round.

After a drive to the right side of the fairway on the 494-yard par-4 ninth hole, Lahiri had a 146 yard approach shot, setting himself up for the birdie. This moved Lahiri to 1 under for the round. On the par-par-4 10th, Lahiri's 106 yard approach to 9 feet set himself up for the birdie on the hole. This moved Lahiri to 2 under for the round. On the 471-yard par-4 13th, Lahiri had a bogey after hitting the green in 3 and two putting, moving Lahiri to 1 under for the round.

After a drive to the right rough on the 400-yard par-4 17th hole, Lahiri had a 110 yard approach shot, setting himself up for the birdie. This moved Lahiri to 2 under for the round.

Sharma displays a good round of putting!

Shubhankar Sharma

Shubhankar Sharma hit 10 of 18 greens in regulation during his final round at the World Golf Championships-Bridgestone Invitational, and had a good round of putting, with no misses on putts within 10 feet. Sharma finished his day tied for 69th at 13 over. On the 399-yard par-4 first, Shubhankar Sharma had a bogey after hitting the green in 4 and one putting, moving Shubhankar Sharma to 1 over for the round.

Sharma got a bogey on the 471-yard par-4 fourth, getting on the green in 3 and two putting, moving Sharma to 2 over for the round. After a drive to the left side of the fairway on the 410-yard par-4 10th hole, Sharma had a 125 yard approach shot, setting himself up for the birdie. This moved Sharma to 1 over for the round.

Tiger Woods fades away

Woods' weekend at Firestone -- where he has eight victories -- did not go as he had hoped, with a pair of 73s among his worst performances at the venue. His five pars tied for the fewest he has had in any round in his PGA Tour career. He also had six birdies, five bogeys and two double-bogeys. Only his weekend rounds of 75-77 in 2010 were worse than this effort at this course.

But Woods seemed to take the uneven performance in stride, recognizing that he is not always going to be at the top of his game and setting his attention toward this week's PGA Championship in St. Louis.

Day 1: Lahiri tied 7th, Sharma tied 63rd as Poulter leads at World Golf Championship

Day 2: Sharma shoots 9-over 79 as Fleetwood, Poulter lead at WGC

Day 3: Anirban Lahiri bounces back as Justin Thomas leads the pack at WGC
