Golf injuries get in the way of your game. And Golf titan Tiger Woods is no different. Former US Ryder Cup captain Paul Azinger has admitted he feels Tiger Woods’ neck injury may well be a serious one.
Woods, who underwent three back surgeries before making a remarkable return last season, pulled out of the Arnold Palmer Invitational earlier this week due to a neck problem.
The 43-year-old is scheduled to compete at The Players Championship on Thursday.
Woods underwent spinal fusion surgery in April 2017 and began his current comeback the following December. Since the 2017 Hero World Challenge, Woods has not missed any pro event (or the Ryder Cup) in which he was scheduled to play.
When McIlroy was asked by the press if the recent injury would put Woods closer to retirement, they were met with an emphatic “Nope.”
“I hope he’s OK,” continued McIlroy, who is the defending champion at Bay Hill this week. “I saw him in Mexico getting treatment before and after he played; he did have some tape on his upper back.”
