Pannakorn Uthaipas of Thailand came back from four shots behind in the final round to clinch the Professional Golf of Malaysia (PGM) title at the Johor Championship.
Trailing third-round leader and compatriot Poom Pattaropong at the Palm Resort Golf & Country Club in Johor Baru, 28-year-old Pannakorn put together an outstanding fourth day six-under 66 to claim the winner’s cheque of RM39,375 with a 20-under 268 total.
“I was only focussing on my game,” said Pannakorn, who won his first tournament at the 2017 Taifong Open in Chinese Taipei. I played well in the first two rounds and I know that my game is in a good place.
“It was a good fight with Poom (in the final round) and the birdie on Hole 8 was significant for me. I missed the green at this par-3 by about 30 yards, but I managed to chip it in. After that I felt more confident,” said Pannakorn.
