My small Golfing milestones: Recently I finished Tied 14th at the Royal Cup Golf tournament at Pattaya. I earned my maiden Asian Tour card in only my second season as a professional. Sealed the Rookie of the year honours with a stellar fourth-place finish in the PGTI Tour Championship. At 15, I got a chance to taste my first overseas success when I won the Taiwan Open in 2015. At 17, I was ranked 45th in the world. I became the first Indian to take part in the Porter Cup in the USA. I was also ranked No.1 in India in 2015.
In 2017, I went over to the United States and played university golf at Texas A & M. I studied business there and played in three events in the semester I was there. I missed the 4th one because I was representing India at the Asia Pacific championship.
How did I take up Golf: As a kid, I was quite plump and my father used to take me to swimming classes at Tollygunge Club in Kolkata to help me shed some kilos. After the classes, I used to run to the 18th hole at the golf course. Never realised how my interest developed gradually. Seeing my enthusiasm for the game, my father enrolled me in a junior programme under Indrajit Bhalotia and I started playing Golf.
One thing I would like to change about the game: Make the game more accessible in India.
My dream 4-ball: Bubba Watson, Tiger Woods, Jack Nicklaus and me!
