It seems the constant grinding and hustling on the bigger tours has taken a toll on Anirban Lahiri, who has recently joined the Greg Norman-fronted LIV Golf Series, a rebel venture that has joined hands with some of the distinguished names in the golf game. Lahiri became the first Indian and  Asian to sign up with Liv Golf.

The 35-year old Indian golfer, who concluded second behind Australian Cameron Smith (the upcoming Open Championship who has also subscribed to the Saudi-backed league) at this year’s Player Championship—the PGA Tour’s flagship event—in Boston, is gearing up to make his debut this week.

Speaking of the reasons that prompted him to make this decision, Lahiri explained, " I really don’t have anything negative to say about the PGA Tour... This is more of a personal decision." I see this as an effort to correct my work-life balance. I see this as a move to get back closer to my family and friends. I see this as something that gives me more time to enjoy my kids' growing up.

Some of the prominent golfers who recently joined this series include The Open Champion Cameron Smith of Australia, Chile’s Joaquin Niemann, and Americans Harold Varner and Cameron Triangle.

However, the financial details of Lahiri’s Liv contract have not come to light yet. Though the figures in Smith’s case are assumed to be around USD 140 million.

Anirban Lahiri has 18 professional titles worldwide under his belt, but has not managed to be a part of the winner's circle since 2015. He has also not accomplished any major weekend in the last five years.
