Augusta Nationals, the name conjures up images of some of the most cherished and celebrated moments of Masters in its 90-year history. Though Tiger Woods scripted the biggest comeback story by winning the Masters and earning his 5th Green Jacket at Augusta Nationals, we are definitely not talking about it this time in this piece of news.

History was created recently when the iconic Golf course flung open its doors to women in the form of Augusta National Women's Amateur. The historic moment represented the first time women had competed for a trophy at the famous venue, which had only hosted men's competitions before.

History was also made at Augusta National Golf Club when Jennifer Kupcho won the first-ever Augusta National Women's Amateur.

The 21-year-old Wake Forest Senior will end her college career in May with full status on the LPGA Tour's new Q-Series event.

Kupcho, as the winner, will receive an invitation to the next five Augusta National Women’s Amateurs, the 2019 U.S. Women’s Open, the 2019 Women’s British Open, and any USGA, R&A and PGA of America amateur championships for which she is eligible for one year.

"It's going to be a big thing in women's golf,” she said. “This tournament has really been shown and shows how good we are and what younger girls have to look forward to.” The event showed the momentous role female players play in the world of Golf.
