A lightning danger struck the Tokyo Olympics Round 2 with a delay shifting the gameplay for 31 July starting from 4:15 AM (IST) and 7:45 AM (JST).

With Day 1 standing off with a similar delay followed by Day 2, the golfing days at Kasumigaseki Country Club are turning wild and hefty for the players yet the massive shift on the scoreboard is what keeps the game to be interesting as ever.

Climbing up the leaderboard by 11 positions, States’ Xander Schauffele tops the leaderboard with 11 under par 63 along with Mexico’s Carlos Ortiz at 10 under par 67 meeting through with a tied 3 between China’s Mito Pereira, Sweden’s Alex Noren, Austria’s Sepp Straka and Master’s wonder from the host country, Hideki Matsuyama jumping up the ladder by 17 positions.

Anirban Lahiri lags out to T20 with his final score yet to be settled as the game went off the course midway as he went on to play the 16th hole.

The lightning did break the momentum for the day, yet the unsuspended command of Schauffele on the course did lead him to hold his ground until he finished for the day.
So, as it currently stands, Schauffele leads the chase for Olympic gold at 11-under-par 131 following a round that featured two eagles and six birdies, including three straight to finish his round. In doing so, he equalled the Olympic record that was established in golf’s return at the 2016 Rio Olympics and matched Thursday by Straka.
But, the question remains, will the scoreboard look the same by the end of Round 2 tomorrow?
