Story by AKSH GUPTA

When conversations turn to Indian golf, one city is almost impossible to ignore.

Bengaluru.

Year after year, it continues to produce some of the country's finest golfers. Professionals, elite amateurs, junior champions and corporate golfers have all emerged from a city where golf is more than just a weekend activity. It is a culture.

So what makes Bengaluru different?

Prestige Golfshire Club has become one of India's premier championship venues and a symbol of Bengaluru's thriving golf culture

The answer lies far beyond talent.

Bengaluru boasts one of the strongest golfing ecosystems in India. With world-class courses such as Prestige Golfshire Club, Karnataka Golf Association and Bangalore Golf Club, golfers have regular access to championship layouts, high-quality practice facilities and year-round playing conditions. Combined with a pleasant climate and a packed tournament calendar, players simply get more opportunities to compete and improve.

The city has also produced some of India's most respected professionals, creating an environment where young golfers grow up watching, learning from and competing against the very best.

That competitive culture is already visible in GRPL.

At the Kolar Leg, KHT Bangalore Eagles missed victory by just four points.

In Hyderabad, they were once again among the leading contenders, with Ishnidh Virdi and Akshay Sharma sharing some of the tournament's best gross performances across the opening two legs.

Consistency.

Depth.

And the ability to produce match winners.

That is what makes Bengaluru one of the most dangerous cities in GRPL.

But if there is one franchise eager to challenge that reputation, it is Delhi Royals.

India's first women-led golf franchise has already shown resilience by securing a podium finish in Hyderabad after an encouraging performance throughout the day. Led by captain Jahanvi Bakshi and backed by owners Vega Jahajgarhia and Tanvi Gupta, Delhi Royals are steadily building momentum as the league heads into its next chapter.

Now the rivalry moves to Bengaluru.

On 24 July, GRPL arrives at the iconic Prestige Golfshire Club, one of India's most celebrated championship venues, where the home advantage firmly belongs to KHT Bangalore Eagles. Designed by Bob Hunt, the course has become synonymous with championship golf and has helped shape Bengaluru's golfing identity for over a decade.

For Delhi Royals, the challenge is clear.

Delhi Royals now prepare for their biggest challenge of the season at Prestige Golfshire.

Can they silence the home crowd?

Can they outplay the city that has become India's golfing powerhouse?

And can they prove that in GRPL, city pride is worth more than home advantage?

The Royal Trial of India continues on 24th July.

This time, the battle heads to Bengaluru.
