Rio Grande: Indian Golfing star Anibaran Lahiri has carded a pallid two-under 70 in the opening round of the Puerto Rico Open. He has tied 37th position at the PGA Tour’s tournament while teeing on the sprawling green course of Grand Reserve Golf Club. Lahiri returned to action after almost 3 weeks, he opened by churning out a vapid hat-trick of bogies from second to fourth, although he capped off the day with a marvelous eagle shot, unfortunately, had hit four bogeys between 10th and 17th.

The Indian golfer was placed T-37, whereas his colleague, Arjun Atwal who was seen in action for the first time in four months, carded 1-under 71 and tied the 52nd position.

Speaking of the opening round at the Puerto Rico Open, Lahiri who has not lifted a title since his success at the 2015 Hero Indian Open, started with a par on first. He birdied three in a row from second to fourth, parred the rest of the front nine to turn in a healthy 3-under.

He had missed shots on the 10th, 13th, 16th, and 17th with just a single birdie on par-5 15th. Going on for the 18th tee for the par-5 closing whole he got an even-par despite a great start. He then had hit two smooth shots and landed a perfect eagle for a more satisfying 2-under 70.

The Puerto Rico Open 2021 is being played alongside the World Championship event in Florida. The weather is pleasant and windy but warm at the Grand Reserve. Let’s see how Anibaran Lahiri moves forward thereby achieving a higher rank in the 2021 leaderboard.
