“To become limitless in life, one needs to have valor and zeal, with that anything could be achieved.” Disha Dagar has proved it to be true.
Women Golfer Disha Dagar
The twenty-year-old damsel, Disha Dagar who is natively from Jhajjar, Haryana, is one of the leading women golfers in the country. She has an undying zeal for golf since she was seven. Despite suffering from hearing impairment since her childhood, her passion for golf didn’t die. Thus, she never made her daunting disability hinder her from playing and practicing golf.
By overcoming this disability she took home a silver medal in the Summer Deaf Olympics. Moreover, she was recently felicitated by the Delhi Commission.
At a very young age, Dagar got inspired by her father who was an avid golfer and a Colonel in the army. As she inherited her passion for golf, from her father, she decided to make it a primary career path.
Dagar quotes, "Compared to the challenges I faced, I got a lot of support from the Army, the Indian Golf Union, and other local sporting bodies when I competed abroad. This made me forget the challenges that I was experiencing."
According to her, golf needs to be propagated in the country. "People are not crazy about golf in the country compared to other sports. But my dream is to be counted among the top 20 players in the country and make my nation proud.
“As they say, where there is a will, there is a way.” The dauntless spirit of Dagar is a testimony to this.
Dagar has set a benchmark for the women in the golf industry by winning the Investec South African Open. Furthermore, she is the 2nd youngest women golfer to win a title on the European Tour.
