Visakhapatnam: The East Point Golf Club (EPGC) at the Mudasarlova area, has recently been deemed as a category-A golf course. It has been lately inaugurated in Vizag city, therefore a series of events have been lined up to bang the drum for golf tourism in the capital of Andhra Pradesh. Several upcoming events are set to take place almost every week till May.
The new 6,800 yards golf course was inaugurated in Vizag by the chief of Naval Staff, Admiral Karambir Singh. Some of the veteran golfers of the country had put in an appearance at the inauguration of this Championship Course.
The East Point Golf Club is enwreathed by a blanket of palatial greenery, trees, hills, and a scintillating lake which were found to be alluring by those who love nature.

The golf club was formerly started in 1884 for the relaxation of British officials stationed in Vizag City. Originally the golf course was ensconced near the VUDA park but was shifted to its current location at Mudasarlova in 1964.
EPGC secretary RVS Rudraraju said “we are planning to host a series of events till May, including the Alwardas Group golf tournament, a Navy golf event, the Varun Group Tournament, World Wildlife Foundation event, SRR golf event, and among other tournaments. Apart from regular golf events, we have also planned to host an inter-club golf tournament — a national event — either in October or November this year. We plan to invite top golfers from various top golf clubs in the country,” he said. (Source: TOI)
“The EPGC team is confident of turning this dream into a reality as the club has a tradition of passionate members contributing to such initiatives. This passion makes the EPGC a jewel in the crown of Vizag city and on the world map of preferred golf tourism destinations,” the EPGC secretary said. (Source: TOI)
