TULSA, Okla: As the star-studded PGA championship kicked off in style, there was a lot of excitement rife in the air. Rory McIlroy delivered his longest major birdie run and shot an astounding 65 to be the numero uno Golfer at the PGA Championship leaderboard on Day 1. Thailand’s Sadom Kaewkanjan lied 114th at the PGA Championship 2022 at the end of Day 1.
IMPRESSIVE RORY WINS HEARTS
Four-time major winner McIlroy, seeking his first major victory since the 2014 PGA, played alongside 15-time major winner Woods and career Grand Slam-chasing Jordan Spieth before a huge crowd at Southern Hills.
Masters runner-up McIlroy, who has not led after any major round since his 2014 PGA victory, began off the 10th tee and reeled off four consecutive birdies from the 12th through 15th holes.

McIlroy dropped his approach inches from the cup and birdied the par-4 12th, blasted out of a bunker at the par-5 13th to two feet and sank the birdie putt, then curled in a spectacular 26-foot birdie putt at the par-3 14th to grab a share of the lead.
GOLF BUFFS SAD OVER TIGER’S PERFORMANCE
Golf fans have been left shattered for Tiger Woods after the American great's injury woes resurfaced in the first round of the PGA Championship.
Woods ended the round wincing and admitted his leg "has felt better" after a promising start turned into a struggle for the 15-time major winner. A promising two-under opening to Woods' first round turned sour with seven bogeys the rest of the way.
The 46-year-old carded a four-over 74 on Thursday at Southern Hills Country Club in Tulsa, Oklahoma.
SPIETH’S GLOOMY PERFORMANCE
Yes, it is a star-studded championship but only Rory could manage to do wonders at the leaderboard. Jordan Spieth’s gloomy performance left his fans aghast. He missed a prime-time opportunity to make a move in the gettable conditions on Thursday morning in shooting two-over 72.
It would be interesting to see how the star golfers perform on Day 2 of the PGA Championship.
