The PGA Tour, which started in 1929 and founded by the World Health Organisation, is one of the most watched and also one of the most awaited tournaments. Golf fans are absolutely enticed by it. With many changes occurring in the world of golf, including its own growing popularity, its fans are now increasing by the day. And what could be better for the fans of a game than to sit and watch a documentary series on their favourite sport? Today the whole world is aware of Netflix. There is not a single pair of ears that has not heard its name being uttered somewhere or the other. Not only are people head over heels about Netflix, but also about golf which is an upcoming sport that might make itself known all over the world pretty soon due to famous tournaments such as the PGA Tour.
PGA Tour Netflix Docuseries
These days we all are so stuck on movies and series that we don’t know what else to do with our free time and more so, that we want to stay updated on anything new that comes out on Netflix. Inspired from Netflix’s previous Formula 1 hit, Drive to Survive, Netflix is now going to take out another documentary series on what happens behind the scenes in Golf. This series will be tracking the strength, time, devotion, and all the things it takes to come this far in golf. This will happen how? Well, the best of the tournaments will be now covered by Netflix. This includes the PGA Tour. Netflix has formed ties with the PGA TOUR and the governing bodies that conduct men’s major championships like Augusta National Golf Club, the PGA of America, the USGA, and The R&A and also The Players Championship, the season-ending FedEx Cup and all four of the Majors for an immersive documentary series following the close knit lives and stories of professional golfers.
The players who have already given commitment to this are some of the most famous players who are well-known in the field of golf. Abraham Ancer, Daniel Berger, Cameron Champ, Joel Dahmen, Tony Finau, Matthew Fitzpatrick, Tommy Fleetwood, Rickie Fowler, Sergio Garcia, Harry Higgs, Max Homa, Viktor Hovland, Dustin Johnson, Brooks Koepka, Collin Morikawa, Kevin Na, Mito Pereira, Ian Poulter, Xander Schauffele, Jordan Spieth, Justin Thomas, and Bubba Watson are some. With these players having agreed to the deal, there is already a great buzz being created about the upcoming series.
“This partnership with Netflix presents the PGA TOUR and the four major championships an opportunity to tap into a completely new and diverse audience,” quoted Rick Anderson who is the Chief Media Officer of the PGA TOUR. “This documentary will give fans an authentic look into the real lives of our athletes, and what it’s like to win -- and lose -- during a season on the PGA TOUR.”
PGA Tour Cast
"We are thrilled to bring golf's leading organizations and players together for this first-of-its-kind partnership and unparalleled window into life on the Tour," said Brandon Riegg, Netflix Vice President of Unscripted and Documentary Series. "Our members will love getting to know the players and personalities as well as the iconic venues along the way. Even the most devoted golf fans have never seen the sport quite like this."
The series will be produced by Vox Media Studios and Box To Box Films, the Executive producers being David Check Chad Mumm and Mark Olsen for Vox Media Studios; and James Gay-Rees and Paul Martin for Box to Box Films. Filming is underway now throughout 2022. This is an opportunity for all the golf fans to see how their favourite players actually work and toil to reach the level they have achieved right now. Not only will this popularise the game itself but will also make the players occupy the majority of the limelight and will showcase them as somewhat superheroes when it comes to the game of Golf.
