What could be the greatest spectacle for all the Golf lovers out there? To witness two legendary golfers wrestle it out at the greens? Probably yes! So, here’s some fabulous news for you: Golf titans Tiger Woods and Phil Mickelson will make their strong presence felt at the forthcoming star-studded PGA Championship 2022 that starts from May 19th at the Southern Hills Championship Course.

Tiger Woods versus Phil Mickelson

After a high-speed car crash almost throttled to put an end to his career, he rose like the Phoenix from the ashes and made a roaring comeback at the Masters 2022. Mickelson meanwhile, is all geared up to be back after a long hiatus. The defending champion found himself in a host of controversies after he accused the PGA Tour of being too greedy for blocking players from signing up. However, he then somewhat confuted himself by making obnoxious comments about Saudi Arabia.

It would be interesting to see if the all-time two legends are able to enthrall their legion of fans in the biggest ever stage set for them. While we gear up to witness yet another clash that might go into the footnotes of history, we bring you some news-worthy statistics that you might love to know about them.

Both the legends have crafted their own Golfing glorious sagas which would always enchant Golf buffs for a much much longer time.

Here are some more interesting facts about Woods:

Tiger woods

  • Tiger Woods occupied the Number 1 slot for straight consecutive 683 weeks in the Official World Golf Ranking.  Clearly, he has spent twice the time more than Greg Norman who was the second-longest Golfer who stayed as world number one.
  • He began his stint with Golf at Navy Golf Course which his dad had access to. He shot 48 for nine holes when he was just 3 years old.
  • He proved himself to be a wonder boy when at the age of 8, he broke 80, and at the age of 12 he broke 70.
  • His amateur career too was dotted with milestones. He became the only golfer to win the US Amateur Championship three years in a row from 1994-1996.
  • At the age of 6, Tiger had already scored a hole-in-one, at Heartwell Park in Long Beach, on the 85-yard 12th hole.

Some more news-worthy facts about Phil Mickelson:

Phil Mickelson

  • Phil has six Major championships, three Masters, one Open and two PGA Championships victories in his kitty.
  • Success eluded him only in the US Open. The only Major he has not won is the US Open. Interestingly, he has been the runner up of the tournament six times.
  • Phil known as 'Lefty' is actually right handed, and the only thing he does left-handed is play golf.
  • Not many know, but Mickelson is an ardent pilot following in the footsteps of his father who was a Navy pilot.
  • Even after achieving major feats in his Golfing career, Phil shockingly has never occupied the World Number 1 Golfer slot.
