The Players Championship 2023 - DAY 1

The first day of the tournament concluded with Christiaan Bezuidenhout from South Africa standing on the top of the leaderboard with a total score of 4-under( 68). He had 2 birdies on the front nine along with one bogey on the 7th and his eagle shot on the 11th made him stand at the top. He had hit a total of 12 at par shots on the prestigious TPC Sawgrass in Florida.

Along with the leader Christiaan Bezuidenhout, tied-1 was Canadian player Adam Svensson, who hit a similar score of 68. He got 5 birdies on 2nd, 12th, 15th, 16th and 17th. He ended with a bad bogey shot on the last 18th hole as he finished his first round at Ponte Vedra Beach, Florida, USA . 

 

 


Tied-3 was Ben Griffin from USA got a birdie shot as he started from the 10th, but onto the next hole falls for a bogey, then a birdie and after that again a bogey shot on the 12th and 13th respectively. Front nine went quite well for Griffin where he got three consecutive birdie hits on the 7th, 8th and 9th. His score went to 5-under 67, staying just one stroke behind the leader.

Australian player Min Woo Lee Tied-3 in the tournament with a bogey free front nine in the first round of the prestigious The Players Championship. Later in the back nine he got four birdies on 11th, 12th, 13th and 16th and three bogeys on 14th, 17th and 18th. 

 

Another player from the USA, Collin Morikawa tied-3 was three strokes behind Christiaan at 7-under (65). He accounted for an amazing eagle shot at 2nd and he concluded the first round with three parred shots on his last playing three holes as he started with the 10th hole.

Hayden Buckley sinked an amazing Hole-in-one shot on the famous hole 17th in the Players Championship 2023, where the crowd cheered for the golfer with full enthusiam. 

 

Canadian Taylor Pendrith, started well with the back nine, where he got one great eagle shot on the 16th and two birdie putts on the 11th and on the 17th. Whereas on the front nine, he got one double bogey on the 4th, making him score 5-under (67). 

 

 

Currently, world no. 2, Scottie Scheffler tied-6 by the end of the first round, he went for a bogey free back nine as he parred at the back nine whereas on the front nine, he got 5 birdie putt 1st, 2nd, 6th, 7th and 9th along with one bogey shot on 5th.

Chad Ramey finished his first round at the eminent Players Championship in Florida playing at a score of 8-under (64) with a birdie on the 1st. The American continued his birdie shots on 3rd, 5th, 7th, 10th, 11th, 16th and 17th. Rest of the holes were parred by Chad. 

 

Another American, Justin Suh, started with three parred shots, then went for three birdie shots on the front nine at 4th, 7th and 8th. 

 

Star golfer, Rory McIlroy who is currently positioned at the third place after Jon Rahm and Scottie Scheffler in OWGR was tied-112 as he played 4-over in the first round, initiating the round with a disastrous double bogey on 10th.
