Trendsetter Atthaya Thitikul has been an inspiration for all young prospective Golfers

The world's No. 2-ranked women's amateur golfer finished the four-round event on Friday at 11 under par, two strokes ahead of Korean Ye Won Lee at Angus Glen Golf Club.

Two-time reigning runner-up Alessia Nobilio of Italy was third at 6 under. Thitikul, 16, became the youngest ever winner of a professional event when she won the Ladies European Thailand Championship at 14 years 4 months 9 days in 2017. The previous record was held by Canada's Brooke Henderson.

Atthaya has been on a roll since she has taken up the game

This year, Thitikul finished as low amateur at the British Open and also captured the Thailand Championship. Atthaya Thitikul took the world’s attention by becoming the youngest ever golfer to win a professional event at the 2017 Ladies European Thailand Championship at the age of 14 years, 4 months, and 19 days, only eight years after having taken up the game at the age of six.

She repeated that victory in her home country for the second time in three years in the summer of 2019 while still an amateur. Thanks to those record-breaking victories, she was awarded special entries into the Women’s British Open where she consecutively won the Smyth Salver’s Low Amateur Honors in both 2018 and 2019. She was also the Low Amateur winner at the 2018 ANA Inspiration, another special entry exemption she gained from winning the Inaugural Women’s Amateur Asia-Pacific Championship in 2018, wired-to-wired.
