The 27-year-old golfer achieved his best result of the season, matching his performance at The Open Championship in July. Shubhankar Sharma narrowly missed a crucial birdie putt of slightly over five feet on Sunday during the Irish Open golf tournament, leaving him with a par and a tied seventh position in the DP World Tour event. Despite starting with a double bogey on the first hole, Sharma managed to salvage a one-under 71 in the final round, concluding the tournament at 11-under.
Indian Golfer Shubhankar Sharma's Top-10 Form Continues at Irish Open
Sharma, a talented Indian golfer, had previously secured top-10 finishes this year, including a tied-8th position at The Open Championship in challenging weather conditions and a T-7 finish at the Abu Dhabi HSBC Championship in January. Initially tied for fourth place overnight, Sharma carded four birdies but also encountered three bogeys during his final round, demonstrating his resilience and determination.
The tournament saw an impressive comeback from Sweden's Vincent Norman, who shot a remarkable seven-under 65 in the final round, securing the title at 14-under par despite starting the day 20 spots behind. Former Open champion Shane Lowry from Ireland also put up a strong performance with a four-under 68, finishing tied for second place at 12-under.

Sharma's rollercoaster round included an early double bogey on the opening hole, but he bounced back with birdies on the second and fourth holes, the latter showcasing a brilliant approach shot from a greenside bunker. He added another birdie on the 10th hole after a challenging tee shot and a long birdie putt.
A birdie on the par-3 14th briefly elevated Sharma to third place on the leaderboard, only two shots behind the leader. However, a stumble on the 17th hole, where he had previously struggled, resulted in a bogey after finding the rough off the tee. This setback dropped him from tied third to tied seventh. Sharma had a final chance to make amends on the last hole but narrowly missed a birdie opportunity, ultimately securing his tied seventh position.
