The debate is heating up in Indian golf.
Rahil Gangjee, after winning the Golf Rendezvous Pro-Am League at Zion Hills, raised some bold concerns.
He feels corporate India has not supported pros enough, comparing it with Thailand where players get sponsors the moment they turn professional. He also believes that even with PGTI’s record INR 33 crore prize pool in 2025, the money is still far too low for real growth.
On the other side, PGTI CEO Amandeep Johl countered at a Delhi press conference. He argued that it is not about blaming corporates but about creating value first.
With DP World investing INR 106 crore in the DP World India Championship and Amitabh Kant joining the board, he believes golf’s big breakthrough in India is around the corner. His message to players: “Dil Maange More.”
So the question is — who’s closer to the truth?
Are pros justified in demanding more right now, or is PGTI correct that building value is the first step?
Should corporate India step up immediately, or is it on golf to prove itself first?
Where do you stand: with the players or with PGTI?
Share your thoughts and let’s spark a real conversation.
