For India, the golf event at the 2024 Paris Olympics was a breakthrough. Shubhankar Sharma finished tied for 40th, achieving India's best-ever result in men's Olympic golf. His compatriot, Gaganjeet Bhullar, also put in a commendable effort, finishing tied for 45th. This surpassed India's previous best of tied 42nd, set by Anirban Lahiri in Tokyo three years ago.

Sharma's final round of 1-over 72 brought him to a total of 1-under 283. His round included a birdie and a bogey on the front nine and three birdies against four bogeys on the back nine. Bhullar, on the other hand, ended his final round with a score of 70, which included four birdies and three bogeys.
Scottie Scheffler, known for his consistency and flair, brought his A-game to the final round. Starting the day a few strokes off the lead, Scheffler produced an extraordinary nine-under 62, finishing at 19-under for the tournament. His remarkable round included flawless drives, precise iron shots, and impeccable putting, showcasing why he is considered the best golfer in the world.

As Scheffler sank his final putt, the emotions overcame him. Tears streamed down his face as he stood on the podium, receiving his gold medal—a testament to his hard work and dedication. This victory added another accolade to a year that has been nothing short of spectacular for Scheffler. He has won seven titles this season, including the prestigious Masters and the Players Championship.
British golfer Tommy Fleetwood put up a valiant fight, finishing just one shot behind Scheffler at 18-under after a final round of 66. Fleetwood's performance was commendable, but it wasn't enough to catch the surging Scheffler.
Hideki Matsuyama of Japan secured the bronze medal with a final score of 17-under, following a round of 65. This was a redemption of sorts for Matsuyama, who had narrowly missed out on a medal in Tokyo, losing in a seven-man playoff. His consistent play throughout the tournament demonstrated his resilience and skill.
Victor Perez, representing the host nation France, finished fourth after a stellar round of 63, ending at 16-under. His performance was met with cheers from the local crowd, adding a touch of national pride to the event.

Rory McIlroy and Jon Rahm tied for fifth place. Rahm, who had looked poised to take gold for most of the day, experienced a dramatic downturn on the back nine. After a flawless front nine of 5-under and a birdie on the 10th, Rahm reached 20-under. However, a series of unfortunate shots on the back nine saw him fall out of contention.
Scheffler's victory at the Olympics caps an extraordinary year. Beginning with the Hero World Challenge in December, the 2023-24 season has seen him dominate the golf world. With wins at the Masters, the Players Championship, and five other titles, Scheffler has cemented his place at the top. His average score per round this season has been an impressive 67.7, and he has already amassed over 24 million USD in earnings, breaking his own record from the previous season.
Scheffler's journey to the top has been nothing short of inspirational. From his early days in Ridgewood, New Jersey, and Dallas, Texas, to his collegiate career at the University of Texas, and finally his rise on the PGA Tour, Scheffler has consistently demonstrated his exceptional talent and work ethic. His performance at the 2024 Paris Olympics is a fitting culmination of his efforts and a milestone in his career.
With the US Open and other major tournaments on the horizon, Scheffler's focus will shift to maintaining his top form and continuing his dominance in the golf world. His Olympic gold medal is not just a personal triumph but also a significant moment for golf, inspiring future generations of golfers worldwide.
The 2024 Paris Olympics will be remembered for many great moments, but Scottie Scheffler's golden performance at Le Golf National will undoubtedly stand out as one of the highlights. As the world watched, Scheffler delivered a masterclass in golf, proving once again why he is the best in the world.
