I am an engineer who started his professional career at the age of 21. I continued to work for 50 years. I leaned my golf on my own through observation and experiment watching my father and his friends play. By the time I was 12 he took me to play when someone of their foursome was unable to make it. I played weekends in Mumbai in the late 1960s when I was working and ended up with a handicap of 15. Unfortunately, I did not take any golf lessons ever.
I moved to a different company after 2 years and then played very occasionally for the next 16 years. There were no golf courses in that location. From 1986 to 2015 I played only weekends. Thereafter I have been playing 3 times a week. My handicap continued to drop when I started playing regularly and was 8-12 over a period of almost 30 years.I am based in Delhi and I play at the Delhi Golf Club and Noida Golf Course.
I retired in 2017 and work occasionally to help my friends who are still running their businesses. I am 79 now and play 3 times a week. My handicap is now 17. A far cry from 10! I like listening to music, reading and keeping up-to-date with political, business and technology news.
