DAY 2
DAY 1

November 16th 2011, Panchkula, Haryana: Nalini Singh Siwach sparkled with a three-under 70 on the final day of the eighth leg of the Hero Women’s Professional Golf Tour. Nalini, who has been very consistent with her showing this season, did grab a top cheque in the fifth leg, but that was after finishing second to amateur Vani Kapoor, who could not take the money on account of her amateur status. Nalini was also second to Sharmila in the sixth leg.

This time Nalini was a convincing winner by four shots over Sharmila Nicollet, winner of the previous two legs. Sharmila did put up a good fight with a round of two-under 71, but Nalini was on a roll. So, this became Nalini’s first official win of the season.

Nalini’s 70 gave her a three-day total of two-under 217 and Sharmila finished at 221. Smriti Mehra (74) was third at 227.

Meghna Bal (76), Neha Tripathi (81) and Saaniya Sharma (86) finished behind in that order from fourth to sixth.

Nalini was on a birdie rampage on the front nine. She birdied the first, fifth, sixth and eighth and that stage she was four-under. Another birdie on 12th made it five-under. Then she had a lapse of concentration and gave away bogeys on 14th and 15th. She parred the last three ended with a 70.

Sharmila, too, had a birdie-birdie start and a third birdie sixth made her three-under. She gave away a bogey on seventh, but quickly recovered with a birdie on eighth to turn in three-under. A bogey on 10th was followed by a birdie on 13th and a bogey on 16th saw her finish at 71.

Smriti, who had a tough first round, birdied the first two holes and had another on eighth. But a bogey on fourth meant she was two-under for the first nine holes. On the back nine she was fine till the 14th, but a double bogey on par-5 15th and a bogey on 18th saw her end the day at 74 and a total of 227 for third place.
