Florida: The most awaited Players’ Championship is finally taking place after a year of an unprecedented pandemic. Last year it was canceled due to the unforeseen virus spread when the PGA Tour called off the game prior to the second round of the tournament.

The 41-year-old, Spaniard, Sergio Garcia is leading the leaderboard and is in heavy contention with Brian Harman, who lies just below Garcia. A Scenario of serendipity can be seen, wherein the former and latter, have won The Players’ in back-to-back years I.e. (2008 and 2009).

The 2008 Champion, Sergio Garcia carded eagles on the Par-five 16th and 9th, thereby making it a third career round on the PGA Tour with multiple eagles since 2012 at the Genesis Invitational. Garcia quotes that he feels composed at this Golf Course.

"I've always said it, Valderrama and this course are some of my top favorite ones and for some reason it just kind of fits my eye," I see what I want to do pretty much every hole, and then it's a matter of doing it, but definitely I feel more comfortable and I've done well here. So all those things help." Garcia said.

Brian Harman stands solo-second after a 67 that included a quadruple birdie on Nos. 9-12. The two-time PGA Tour winner has indeed hit the ground running by showing his zeal to surge his rank on the leaderboard of The Players’ Championship 2021.

Speaking of other contenders, Corey Conners has tied 3rd position by carding a par-four 14th and holed out from the fairway from 154 yards. While Mathew Fitzpatrick posts his second sub-70 score in 13 rounds on the green links of TPC, Sawgrass, Ponte Vedra.

Furthermore, the Indian golfing sensation Anibaran Lahiri, who got a golden chance to leave his mark at the TPC, Sawgrass doesn’t seem to perform up to the expectations of his fans. He is playing as a replacement for Brooks Koepka, who had to roll back due to an unfortunate knee injury. Thus, in the current scenario, Lahiri has tied 134th position in the Leaderboard of The Players’ Championship.
