Golf has produced some of the biggest stars in sport, including Tiger Woods and Jack Nicklaus. If you’re already a fan of golf ready to get stuck in on sites like powerplay, or you’re a new fan who doesn’t want to miss the biggest events that the rest of 2023 has to offer, then read on.

 US PGA Championship.

The PGA Championship is easily one of the most prestigious in all of golf. Held each year since 1916, the event takes place over four days and sees golfers from across the world competing on a notoriously difficult course layout that tests even the most experienced of them.   This year’s event will be held at Oak Hill Country Club in Los Angeles and is sure to attract huge crowds as well as a global television audience. It starts on May 18th and concludes on the 21st.

US Open

The US Open is considered by many to be the most prestigious and desirable of the four majors. It has a long and storied history, taking place each year since 1895, with some of the biggest names in the sport among its winners. The 2023 US Open will take place from June 15-18th at the Los Angeles Country Club.Something that makes the US Open unique compared to a lot of the other prestige events in the sport is that it has an open qualifying process. This means that even amateur golfers can attempt to qualify and potentially face off against some of the biggest names in golf.

US Women’s Open

Although it might not get as much attention as the men’s tournament, the US Women’s Open is still a big draw and has only grown in popularity in recent years. The women’s version of the Open has been around since 1946, so it has a fantastic history and has seen many great winners over the years, with golfers from South Korea being particularly dominant in recent years. This year’s US Women’s Open will be held on the Pebble Beach Golf Links - an incredibly prestigious course that has been graced by some of the greatest players in the history of the sport. The event will take place from July 6-9th and it’s sure to be one that you don’t want to miss.

The 151st Open Championship

Taking place each year since 1860, The Open Championship, also known as the British Open, is one of the most historic events in golf. This year’s event will take place at Royal Liverpool Hoylake from July 20th to 23rd. The British Open is known for being particularly challenging thanks to the unpredictable weather conditions and range of courses it’s held at across England, Scotland and Northern Ireland. In addition to the weather, the deep bunkers and speedy greens can make it challenging even for the best golfers.

The Ryder Cup

Although it’s not considered one of the four majors that make up the most prestigious titles in gold, The Ryder Cup is still an incredibly popular event that brings in a huge audience from across the globe.  Taking place once every two years, it sees the best golfers from Europe and the United States facing off against each other over three days, culminating in Singles Sunday. The most recent winners of The Ryder Cup were the United States who won the 2021 event and were captained by Steve Stricker.

Walker Cup

The Walker Cup is many golf fan’s favourite event of the year. It sees the best amateurs from the United States and Britain & Ireland facing off against each other. This year’s event will be particularly special for the young golfers taking part, since it’s being held at the historic St Andrews venue - the venue of the very first Walker Cup. The 2023 Walker Cup takes place from September 2-3rd.

Solheim Cup

The Solheim Cup is the biggest event in women’s team golf and has provided some incredibly memorable moments since the first event was held in 1990. This year’s Solheim Cup will take place from September 22-24th and will see the best female golfers from the US taking on those from Europe.

Conclusion

2023 has some fantastic golf events for fans to look forward to. From the prestigious majors such as the US Open and British Open to The US Women’s Open,  The Walker Cup and Ryder Cup - there’s something for all types of fans.
