Indian torchbearer of golf, Jeev Milkha Singh has been honoured with the Dubai Golden Visa for his outstanding achievements.

Former honoraries of the prestigious note are Shah Rukh Khan, Shoaib Malik and Cristiano Ronaldo while Jeev Milkha Singh is the first professional golfer to be bestowed with the honour on a ten-year note for being an impeccably elite professional athlete.

The 49-year-old has had a long association with Dubai, having featured in several tournaments and making many friends in the city. During the 2001 Dubai Desert Classic, he established a world record — at the time — when he completed four rounds with just 94 putts as he finished in a share of sixth.

“I’m really honoured and humbled that the Dubai government has considered me for the Golden Visa. For someone who spends so much time in this city and has made so many friendships over the years, I am looking forward to being a resident here.” Singh stated along with his fond memories of Dubai and how he has always loved the quality of the golf courses and the practise facilities of the place.

Being one of the first ambassadors for Jumeirah Golf Estates, and also of ‘Golf in Dubai’ for many years, Jeev Milkha Singh has been rightly honoured with the Golden Visa. Ismail Sharif, Managing Director Jumeirah Golf Estates, added: “Congratulations to Jeev on being honoured with a Dubai Golden Visa. This is a huge story for golf in Dubai and is well deserved. We look forward to Jeev being an ambassador for the city of Dubai as well as for golf in Dubai on his global travels and look forward to seeing him around Jumeirah Golf Estates and at the golf facilities in Dubai.”

What is the Golden Visa?

In 2019, the United Arab Emirates (UAE) implemented a new system for long-term residence visas, thereby enabling foreigners to live, work and study in the UAE without the need of a national sponsor and with 100 per cent ownership of their business.
