Tvesa Malik opened her campaign at the Ladies Scottish Open with an even par round in tough conditions to be placed Tied 22nd. It was the 23 year old Malik's first competitive round since South African Women's Open in March. With only 21 players carding under-par scores, Malik was the best of the three Indians at the tournament, co-sanctioned by the LPGA.
There was a two-hour fog delay on the first day and nine groups were unable to finish due to the late start. Aditi Ashok, winner of the 2016 Hero Women's Indian Open, has not played since her Tied-fourth place finish in the Women's NSW Open in Australia in February.
She started with two-over 73 and was Tied-48th, while Diksha Dagar, winner of the 2019 Women's South African Open, struggled to 78 and was T-120th. With the conditions expected to be tough, scoring will not be easy and it will be a test of patience.
Despite a three-over par score, Tvesa Malik made the cut and lies tied 42nd after two rounds. Malik began with a par on the first hole but slipped down the order with a bogey on the second and took nine shots to hole on the par-5 third.
Tvesa Malik pulled it back slightly with her first birdie of the day on the par-four fifth but another bogey on the ninth meant that she carded five-over on the front nine, leaving herself with a lot to do on the second part of the course.
The Indian golfer began the back nine with a birdie on the tenth but fell back with a bogey on the next hole. However, she made amends thereafter. Malik is placed 42nd now.
Malik scored her third birdie of the day on the 13th before carding another on the par-3 17th. Her even-par on the rest of the holes gave the Indian golfer a score of three-over 145 after two rounds.
